🗞️ No-Code Tidbits:
OpenAI just announced Voice Engine, an AI capable of replicating any voice in any language based on a brief audio sample Read more about it here.
Today we will talk about Webstudio, an open-source competitor to Webflow, and how it’s positioning itself as a visual development tool.
As a full-time Webflow developer myself, it's challenging to consider switching platforms now, especially when interest in Webflow is at its peak and also keeps a roof over my head.
BUT, Webstudio has really caught my eye.
🔗Key Features:
It’s Open Source and relies on a Community-first Approach to development. This aspect alone convinced us to try it out.
Real-time collaborative engine that is both multi-player and multi-cursor.
Native Extensibility which allows community members to enhance the platform with custom components and plugins.
Backend Versatility: Webstudio is opting for a backend-less approach, which integrates seamlessly with various CMSs and databases, providing flexibility, unlike Webflow which has an in-built CMS.
Design Tokens Over Classes for style management, which enables more organized and reusable design systems compared to traditional class-based styling.
Ownership and Privacy - GDPR-compliant hosting options and avoids default tracking to give users control over their data.
Performance: Built on advanced open-source technologies to ensure high website performance, including optimized image formats and efficient rendering.
As someone who is constantly trying to hit 90+ scores on pagespeed.web.devWebstudio sites are scoring well compared to other site builders.
🌟And finally, let’s talk about our favorite topic - Pricing
Unlike every single platform/SaaS trying to shove a subscription down your wallet, here’s a breath of fresh air as - Webstudio offers lifetime deals.
To test the tool, we suggest choosing the Hobby plan, which is free and allows up to 5 custom domains—a great deal already. For those needing more, we recommend opting for the Pro Lifetime T2 plan, which includes unlimited custom domains, form submissions, and asset storage - all for a one-time fee.
Get lifetime access to Webstudio.
For more detailed information you can visit their site here and there are also some limited-time deals running on Appsumo currently.
Additionally, here’s the link to their Roadmap where we can get insights into the team’s plan for this year. I find it interesting that at some point this year, we’ll be able to copy/paste Webflow and Tailwind CSS to Webstudio.
Either way, we're genuinely excited about diving deep with Webstudio. As it's new, we're still in the process of learning its intricacies but plan to share our builds and learnings soon.
In the meantime, I highly recommend checking out the official Webstudio Discord, Twitter, and YouTube for regular product updates and learning resources.

Cool find. I wonder how is the client-side editor? A complaint I get from time to time from my Webflow customers is that it’s harder to create posts than in Wordpress.
