🚀 Hello No-Coders (and everyone else)!
Welcome to our website, you are. Much to learn, you have. Stay a while, you must.
We borrowed a little Yoda wisdom for the welcome - from today's topic of discussion: Personality-Emulating AI. The rest of the blog will be in plain language.
Today, let's take a quick dive into the world of personality-emulating AI, with a focus on Character.ai
🤖 Character AI: A Chatbot with a Twist
Character AI, developed by former Google AI researchers Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, is making waves. In simple terms, it's a chatbot and has its own personality. [Click for friendship]
What makes it intriguing are the options it offers. They say there are over 18 million chatbots available, and this number keeps growing as users create and train new characters. The range of options is astonishing, covering almost every character imaginable. 🌞
Google is in talks to invest heavily (in tunes of hundreds of millions $). CharacterAi’s numbers are very impressive with over 100M monthly visitors and 4.2M active monthly users.
After a chat with Mario from Super Mario 64, I understand the appeal (although a little baffled by the fact that 60% of users spend at least an hour a day on the platform).
🌟 The Gen-Z Craze:
One demographic particularly drawn to this technology is Gen Z, with nearly 60% of users falling between the ages of 18 and 24. In comparison, ChatGPT attracts only 27% of users in this age group. 🚀
The appeal to Gen Z is clear:
Fictional Characters: The chatbots feature almost every beloved character from popular books, movies, and TV shows.
Addressing Loneliness: Gen Z users have reported using this platform to discuss their mental health, relationships, and identity issues. It has become a safe space for them to talk about and work through difficult emotions. A fine example of technology addressing real-world issues. 💬
🌐 Diverse Applications:
Character.ai's applications span a wide range of fields. In the gaming world, it can bring non-player characters (NPCs) to life, making in-game interactions more lifelike. In marketing, it can serve as the voice connecting brands with consumers, fostering stronger emotional connections.
One delightful surprise on their website is the language learning section.
Internet wins again❤️
❌ Challenges and Ethical Concerns:
As AI evolves to emulate personalities, we step into an ethical minefield. What happens when the line between the virtual and real world blurs? Failures in AI's ability to handle complex moral dilemmas or inappropriate use can lead to significant problems.
And then there's the question of how this technology affects human relationships. Current user behaviour seems to be leading to social isolation, and that's a fire we don't want to fuel.
🤖 Beyond Character.ai:
Despite all the hype and concerns, many users have one major complaint - the NSFW (Not Safe For Work) filter. AI models have their limits, so it makes sense to keep conversations civil. 🤬🤐
But this has created a gap in the market. Several competitors have emerged that allow conversations to go wherever they may. The adult industry, known for pushing boundaries and forcing tech to adapt, is doing the same here. They've even collaborated directly with performers to create their own personality bots. Riley Reid is leading the charge with her newly launched platform, Clona.ai.
In one of our next iterations we'll provide a guide on how to create one using no-code tools. SFW edition.
